Role

PhD student on the SCALE project

Research / Engagement

I am an agricultural socio-economist. My academic and professional background spans agronomy, agro-economics, and rural development, with a strong focus on the socio-economic and ecological dynamics of agricultural systems. I have contributed to several research projects in Madagascar, particularly in the areas of sustainable value chain analysis, strategic market analysis for agricultural products, and youth and green entrepreneurship.

Driven by the ambition to help shape more sustainable agricultural and environmental policies that address climate change, land and forest degradation, and the vulnerability of rural communities, I am now beginning my PhD as part of the SCALE project. My research explores the relationship between yield improvement and agricultural expansion in Madagascar. In particular, it aims to assess whether increasing productivity—especially through Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA) practices—can truly spare land and forest from further agricultural expansion, or whether, on the contrary, it may risk encouraging it.
